Yooo, Check Those Labels: Your Skincare Might Be Toxic!
Share
Hey there, beauty queens and kings! It's high time we talk about something serious—but don't worry, I'll keep it fun and sassy. You’ve been checking food labels for ages, but did you know your skincare might be sneaking in some seriously shady chemicals? Yep, even that luxurious face cream you love.
The "Sneaky Six" Chemicals You Need to Ditch
- Parabens (Hormone Crashers) Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Propylparaben. Basically, if you see "paraben," toss it. These mess with your hormones, ladies!
- SLS – Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (The Sneaky Irritant) Sodium Laurel Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate. Ever wonder why your skin suddenly hates your favorite product? Blame SLS.
- Triclosan (The Unnecessary Bacteria Fighter) Found in soaps and toothpaste, but mostly unnecessary and irritating in skincare.
- Phthalates (Endocrine Disruptors) Dibutylphthalate, Diethylphthalate. These can seriously disrupt hormones, affecting your reproductive health. No, thank you!
- Formaldehyde (The DNA Saboteur) Methanal, Imidazolidinyl Urea, DMDM Hydantoin. Your skincare shouldn't preserve your DNA, literally.
- Mercury (The Heavy Metal Nightmare) Mercurous chloride, Calomel, Mercurio. Poisonous, dangerous, and absolutely no business being on your beautiful face.
What's A Girl (or Guy) to Do?
- Opt for products labeled natural or organic. Certified organic is even better!
- Shop small: Check out local handcrafters at farmers markets or online. We are a GOLD MINE for helping you have healthy skin. ---> Check out my online shop
- READ YOUR LABELS - keep a slip of paper on you with the Sneaky Six so you'll know what to look for. Check out this list of alternative names for them ---> Chemicals To Avoid in Skincare
Take a look at my Goat Milk Liquid Cleanser ingredients....easy to read and understand. Below is an example of how the same label looks with the scientific names:
Aqua, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Goat Milk, Phenoxyethanol (and) Caprylyl Glycol (and) Sorbic Acid
Your skincare should uplift, not endanger. Clean out those shelves and make safe choices - as much as your purse can allow.
